Peter Russell, Attorney and Founder
In 2006, Peter “Pete” Russell founded Russell Law & Associates, a law firm specializing in real estate and estate planning, after spending over a decade as a public servant.
Pete began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, during which time he was the Supervisor of Cambridge and Concord District Courts. He was subsequently promoted to the Superior Court, where he prosecuted major felonies. Pete later served as an Assistant Attorney General, both in the Executive Bureau as a Director in the External Affairs Division and in the Government Bureau as an Assistant Attorney General in the Trial Division, where he honed his civil litigation skills. He worked with the division of banks and specialized in investigating mortgage fraud, trying cases in Superior Court and Federal Court. Pete’s wealth of experience in compliance and regulatory issues in relation to banking has made him sought-after by banks, lenders, and attorneys. He has represented banks in thousands of closings and is regularly brought into federal court as a key consultant on criminal cases.
A native of Needham, Massachusetts, Pete attended Providence College in Rhode Island on a soccer scholarship. He was captain of the varsity soccer team and graduated with honors, receiving both his B.A. in Humanities and Masters in History. While attending Boston College Law School, he played semi-professional soccer and worked in local and statewide politics. He is the former president of the Needham Business Association, is a member of the Newton/Needham Chamber of Commerce, coaches youth league soccer and trains kids to be scholarship athletes in order to play at a collegiate level. Pete remains active and competitive; he has run the Boston marathon and enjoys cycling.
